    Follow these guidlines:

    1. From the airport follow signs for the R21 to Boksburg and then the N12 to Witbank. Check with your car rental company that you understand where the R21 is. Stay on the N12 until it becomes the N4 toll road to Nelspruit. Shortly after the second toll gate, the N4 splits and you can either drive direct or take the Schoemanskloof road which is a scenic route with less truck traffic.
    2. When the N4 rejoins continue following signs to Nelspruit. When you pass Eric’s Farm Stall on your right slow down. You will shortly come to a left-hand turn to Rosehaugh.
    3. If you pass the Wine Glass Inn/ "Old Crocodile Country Inn", then you have gone too far, and will need to turn around to make the Rosehaugh turn. Reset your mileage clock now.
    4. Once on the Rosehaugh road, you will cross the Stads River onto a dirt road.
    5. You will shortly come to a Y-Junction to Rietvallei on the left, and Rooiuitsig to the right. Take the Rietvallei road to your left.
    6. You will re-cross the Stads River and reach the Schagen nursery on the left after about 3.4km’s.
    7. About 3km’s further on, on the right you will see a green sign marked “Killarney Farm”. Do not take this road, but keep going.
    8. After a further 0.7km’s, just after a sharp bend, you will see Killarney Farm House sign and a dirt track going down the hill on the right hand side of the road. You should take this track.
    9. Note: If you reach “Inter Mayo” on the main dirt road, then you have missed our turning and need to turn around.
    10. Once on our track you will come to some green electric gates (for which you will be provided with a key code). The house is the thatched property at the bottom of the driveway.
    11. Please note that fuel can only be purchased with rand cash in South Africa. It is also essential that you carry some rand with you to pay for road tolls on the way to Killarney Farm House. These tolls will cost in the region of R100.

  • Happy travelling!

November through to March is mid-summer in South Africa. It is humid and balmy and in the Lowveld it is ‘rainy season’. You should expect rain – quite a lot of it – in the form of short-lived African tropical storms. You will marvel at their ferocity! To ease this hardship, we provide 4 large golfing umbrellas for your use throughout your stay.

The daytime temperatures can reach 40° C (104° F) while night-time temperatures are a pleasant 22° C (72° F) – in fact you may need a light sweater. In October and April there is typically less rain and a very slight reduction in temperature. However, in May through to September it is dry, through there can be the odd, isolated storm.

The temperature only starts to drop noticeably in May and by the time mid-winter is upon us in June Ad July the maximum daytime temperature is still around 26° C (85° F), although the nights can get very chilly and you will need a fire in the evenings!
